I don't have a specific day (or if I do, I never adhere to it), but there are movies that I try to watch annually around a certain date. Usually in October and December.

But I have watched Uncle Sam every July (not necessarily on the 4th) for the past three years or so since I got the blu-ray. I love it and think it's cheesy fun (and I can't believe it's on blu-ray, which only makes me love it more).

Also, last year around this time I watched I Know What You Did Last Summer, and last night I watched I Still Know What You Did Last Summer. So maybe that has unintentionally become a "thing"?

I tend to watch action movies on the 4th. This year I think I'm going to watch Scorpion's Angel's Brigade.

I do the same thing....think it's a combination of it having beaches/oceans and also the rotting corpses make me think of it being all hot and humid....

"The Raft" in Creepshow 2 is a favorite of mine for a hot drunken summer day. Probably because I live in an area that looks so much like that scene. Lots of trees, lakes and hot and humid during the summer.

I'm surprised no one has mentioned The Return Of The Living Dead. It's set on July 3rd. And despite taking place mostly indoors it's got that fun party vibe that's perfect for summer.

Just finished watching Jaws (watched my blu for the first time). I didn't even think about it being a July 4th setting. Glad to be reminded of that via this thread.

I Know What You Did Last Summer & I Still Know What You Did Last Summer take place on July 4th.

The Tommyknockers seems to take place during the summer and they have a fireworks town-celebration scene. That could be the 4th of July... I don't remember.

The Fog has a town celebration theme. Does anyone know what month of the year that takes place on? It would make generally appropriate fodder for the season.

Silver Bullet has a town celebration thing of some sort and that requires fireworks. I'm assuming it's the 4th of July.

The scariest thing is, these people vote!:nervous:
I'd say "I hope that is a joke", but know that it's probably not.:(
I guess if you're in the "United States of Jesus" it's closer, but you still got the wrong day!

"to think that god made America 2013 years ago today" is pretty hysterical. I refuse to believe that there's not a little bit of self-awareness in there.

Oh, and I just wanted to say that I added Jaws to my Independence Day weekend viewing, and it could easily be a regular thing. Of course, I'll have to upgrade from Laserdisc at some point.

Two things I observed from watching Jaws over the weekend (hadn't seen it in a good 5-6 years)
    1. It still looks ridiculous when the shark is hoisting itself up on to the boat at the finale
    2. Now I know the origin of the TV bumper "That's some bad hat, Harry"
