It is early yet. I suspect they were chosen specifically because nothing can be gleamed from them save that there will be a ballerina training scene (duh) probably a lot like in the original (seems relatively faithful).

I had assumed Chloe Grace Moretz was the lead but apparently Dakota Johnson is in a dreadful ginger weave. I didn't recognize her but I was like, "why are they showing photos of some poor girl in a bad wig?" before it dawned on me that was Johnson. Redhead does not suit her. And I like redheads.

If that's the production decisions being made this does not bode well...

There are perhaps some spoilers in the article as Dark Horizons is saying that
Tilda Swinton will be playing a duel roll: one as the head of the academy and another as an old man credited as Lutz Ebersdorf. Something of a performance art and if true not something they want openly reported so early.
Don't think it's a big surprise but could ruin the fun for some.

I ain't gonna lie, after watching that trailer this looks exactly like the Suspiria remake I want. Anticipation level just rose greatly.

The trailer was enough to spark my curiosity. But, I gotta admit that I am a bit bummed that they seem to be going with the traditional muted color palette of today's horror trends. I was hoping that they would at least keep that shockingly garish color scheme of the original.

Wow, not what I expected. That looks so different to the original, that it could almost be another sequel in the series. I also wish they used the original color scheme though.

I thought the exact same thing regarding the color...... but I'm hoping they chose not to show too much in trailer......unlike most modern films that give away the result of every friggin set piece....

I'm usually right up there scoffing at the latest remake announcements, but that trailer actually looks kind of interesting.

Looks just like all the other movies out there with that Twilight color scheme. Let's hope the story is more interesting.

The colour scheme does look pretty disappointing. That part I am sad to see. The music on the other hand sounds surprisingly good and pretty Suspiria escque.
There's a shot with three older women sitting in a room which has me wondering if all three mothers will be in this movie. Still hoping this will be good.

Yeah - at this point in the filmmaking game it's almost too much to ask of these people to not stray from the norm. I was told by a young filmmaker
that a movie has to look a certain way so it'll sell. We all know what sells these days.
At the least Dario Argento's SUSPIRIA has its own unique look and appeal. Thank God.
You can't expect to be surprised by films these days - this is the era when Harry Potter movies have more horrifying imagery than anything I saw back in the 70's and 80's, superheroes are now not so much the good guys and zombies are in TV series which combine action and soapy drama. And they all look the same.

You just contradicted your own argument by stating the original has it's own unique look and appeal, meaning in your words this remake should also have it's own look (which it does and should rightfully so). Besides, the most boring thing you can do with a remake is make it an exact copy.

And as to the colour scheme comments it's going for a natural '70s film look (it was also shot on 35mm), which is when the film is set so it rightfully and artfully adheres to its own world building, but who knows if we don't get some crazy coloured gels since again it's only a teaser. And that look is far from the pushed cold blues, greens, and reds of Twilight.

I'm sure there'll be at least one scene (or room, or whatever) that has a nod to the original lighting theme.

It definitely looks promising though. Maybe if it's a success they'll "remake" Inferno next! :)

I'm thinking the same, that there might be a few scenes or rooms with overwhelming color. If not the movie will probably just feel more like Suspiria in tone. The trailer does make it seem like the movie will be good though.

I was totally against a remake but I have to admit that I'm very excited about this.
Never thought I'd be typing those words down.

The trailer actually looks more in the style of Inferno than Suspiria.

The director's previous movie (Call me by your name) is visually stunning, the guy definitely has an eye for colour. It'll be ironic if his Suspiria looks bland in comparison.

I think it looks very promising. Not trying to do the shot for shot thing and adding a bit of a different spin to the story...maybe even more actual dancing! I'm cautiously optimistic.

This is exactly what I was thinking! I'm glad it doesn't look like the original--Synapse has us covered. :)
