Anyone watch the new Halloween 4 documentary? Am I understanding right that the mask was molded from the original Shatner molds?

I've heard that they had some or at least one original on set. I don't know how they managed to make the part 4 mask look so shit with an original on set. :nervous:

The Halloween 4 mask was a Shatner mask that they obtained from Don Post, but it was painted much too white removing all the detail, the eye cuts were much different than the eye cuts in the H1 Shatner and the sideburns were left on. The masks they got from Don Post were a pink flesh tone with white blonde hair. One of the unaltered Shatner masks did make it into the film when Loomis bumps into Myers at the school. In the documentary they mention how that scene was filmed at about 4 in the morning and everyone was so tired that someone on the prop crew just grabbed the first mask they could find for that scene.

Finally got mine...but I have not had time to watch anything--I have a couple of questions:

1)The extended version of Halloween on the bonus disc--anyone watch this yet? shouldn't this actually be the first high-def release of the original THX color timing that we all loved with the super deep blues?

2)I want to pear down my collection since I have so many duplicates now--I know I want to hang on to my standalone Halloween 2 for the sake of Terror in the Aisles, but is there anything else worth holding on to any of the separate discs for?

    1. They integrated the TV scenes in SD with the 35th anniversary transfer.

    2. The Halloween 4/5 discussion panel from the Anchor Bay's standalone blu-ray of Halloween 4, the Alan B. McElroy commentary from the Halloween 4 Divimax DVD, the Unmasking the Horror featurette from the Dimension DVD of H20 and of course the 25 Years of Terror documentary are not included.

    TV inserts are in SD.

The 2012 Halloween 4 release has the Halloween 4/5 discussion panel.

Ronnie, it's been confirmed from multiple sources on multiple websites that the original mono is on the disc. Go to "setup", then "audio" and you will see "English dolby trueHD mono"

Is any release not a "cash grab"? I mean, this is supposed to make money. That's kind of the point.

Reasons why the Halloween box set blows away the Friday the 13th Complete Collection (or, A Little Perspective):

-Contains new featurettes and extras not available on previous releases

-New audio commentaries not available on previous releases

-Only missing one audio commentary, versus the multiple missing from F13

-Multiple cuts of the original movie included

-AN ENTIRE new movie cut never before released

-Unrated cuts of latter 2 films included (RZ H1/H2) versus theatrical cuts (JgtH/JX)

-Each cut of each movie is on its own disc!

The Friday the 13th set overall had much more consistently impressive transfers of each film. PQ-wise I'd say the Friday the 13th set wins. The only missing commentaries were the solo one with the director of part 6 and one of the ones on part 8. The other commentaries for these films include other commentaries with the directors. There's a lot of overlap on the commentaries that are missing so it's not that big a deal. I didn't think so anyway. Plus the Crystal Lake Memories doc is pretty much the final say on the series. The only missing feature that annoyed me was the commentary for part 3.

I don't know about that...I'd say it pretty much mirrors the Halloween set: great transfers for 1-3, and bad to mediocre transfers for 4-8. I don't think any Halloween looks as bad as the F13 part 4 transfer.
