Over this year's October Madness I was able to stomach watching HALLOWEEN 6 again after a decade-long hiatus. It had me wondering what all you folks thought about the two different cuts of the film floating around: the released cut or the "producer's" cut, which focuses a lot more on the Thorne cult. Both have their pluses and minuses in my book, so it would be interesting to see what the majority thought was best. So tell me, which film has the sharpest blade!?
I accidentally answered "Haven't seen the Producer's Cut" when I actually meant "Producer's Cut". It's far and away the better of the two.
I saw the Producer's Cut for the first time last month and hated it just as much as the theatrical. So I voted "They are both too terrible to rank"
I voted for the producer's cut. But I think both cuts have distinct advantages and disadvantages. The producer's cut has a far superior (and more traditional) score, less outrageous murders, more scenes with Pleasence, and significantly more character development and build-up. I particularly like the scenes where Michael follows Kara outside. They echo the original nicely. And the more measured pace of the first half seems like an improvement to me. On the other hand, it also goes all the way with the Thorn storyline--which I'm not crazy about. And the final shot of Michael is utterly ridiculous. But at least the third act makes more sense in the producer's cut. I like certain aspects of the theatrical cut too. The scene where Kara witnesses a murder in the window across the street is much more dramatic in the released cut. And the strobe light massacre scene at Smith's Grove is pretty damn cool. But you also have to suffer through some moments that Paul Rudd would undoubtedly like to forget. And a murder that's fairly low-key in the producer's cut turns into head-exploding silliness. The guitar-driven Halloween isn't entirely successful. But it's an interesting variation that gives this cut of the film a unique tone. Although I slightly prefer the producer's cut overall, I don't think either version is vastly superior. No release will be definitive release unless it includes both cuts.
sorry I meant to vote theatrical, accidentally hit producers, which I do like but I like the tc better
I actually prefer the Theatrical cut. The changes in the Producer's cut just don't work as well at all IMO.
i like producer's cut better plus the late great Donald Pleasence was in more scenes and the music score was alot better too
The Producer's Cut is superior but both are a disservice to the franchise. They should have never explained why Michael is what he is. Even worse that he's some cult's lapdog. The PC has its moments but I don't understand how Jaime survived the attack in the barn. I find the Theatrical Cut to be a complete waste. I'm almost offended that they accepted people's money to see it. They had to know it was utter garbage.
A 120lbs comedian (Paul Rudd) easily beats Michael Myers to death with a pipe. That's not retarded? I found that so incomprehensible that it bordered on offensive.
I haven't seen the Producer's Cut, and have no plans to unless it is officially released someday. I doubt it would matter, as this installment of the franchise is shit, and you can't polish a turd.
Better? Both are horrendous but at least the magic stones is something that's completely fantasy based. Paul Rudd f@#king up Michael Myers is just stupid.
I must be one of the only persons on earth who actually really likes both Halloween 3 and 6? I own three parts of the Halloween series. Halloween, Halloween 3 and Halloween 6. I guess I am in the vast minority of people, who dig the whole "Evil Druid" storyline.
God forbid someone reference your statement and give a different opinion on a "discussion" forum. We should all just agree on everything. Its not a competition to see who's opinion loses. I was waiting to see if you had a reason that you liked the TC ending. You only explained why you disliked the PC.
Reading through this thread I don't feel so bad that I answered I haven't seen either now! 4 and 5 were OK, I love the original and H20 (which I saw at the cinema on Halloween - twice - when it was released and I've pretty much watched it every Halloween since), hated the one after H20, 2 was positively pornographic and a real turn off when I watched it 10 years ago and I liked 3, but it's the bad seed of the franchise, so that doesn't really count.
Let's not forget the greenish yellow blood whatever that was too coming out of his head. It's like Jason in Part VIII when he pukes water before toxic waste hits him and he turns into a little kid again - that may be the worst ending of all time. Where's the alternate for that? You mean to tell me no one had a better ending than that!!!
