Nothing but good things to say about Diabolik. I ordered a fairly expensive digipack/hard case style title from them and the plastic tray came slightly damaged - they took care of it right away, and responded to my e-mails within maybe 15 minutes. Great guys over there.
Haven't watched the revised video yet, but the first video had a proof of purchase through paypal from a seller named CAV Distribution. So, yea somebody from CAV is selling puzzles for scalper prices screwing the people that pre-ordered from other places. To be honest, Diabolik did not act professional in response to VHS guy's video. There's a way to handle things in a professional manner even when you're being bashed.
CAV is definitely up to something but the owner of Diabolik had nothing to do with it. No idea why the VHS collecting nutjob dragged him into it so yeah don't blame him for being unprofessional. Sometimes a cunt deserves to be called a cunt.
Especially when you consider that time they got caught ebaying a recalled copy of God's Bloody Acre instead of selling it in their store.
Hearing him talk for 40 minutes almost made my brain melt. It was a very strong reminder why I stopped watching his videos in the first place.
I only lasted about 2 minutes. Not so much a knock on the guy, just a 40 minute video is way too long for a review/rant. I like reviews that get to the meat of it and can concisely say what's good and what's bad. All this puzzle drama, too, I mean come on.
He makes a great 5-minute point over the course of 40 minutes. I only got through 15 minutes of it. YouTube film review tips: 1. Dry your hair before recording. 2. Instead of buying multiple copies of the same release at increasingly inflated prices, invest that money in a sound system so you can properly review the film, instead of dismissing the surround track with a shrug because you do not have the equipment.
The reason the review is so long is due to it being 2 videos in 1. The first is his original video the second is a follow up. But yeah I agree he rambles on and on. But in the end he makes some great points and even shows proof. This was/ is pretty fucked on all parties involved. Allot of people who pre-ordered didn't get the puzzle. On top of that CAV the distributor is flipping the puzzle. Then you got diabolikdvd right in the middle. All of this just fucking stinks like shit.
Watched it tonight and was impressed with the transfer. Another great job from Grindhouse. Also the "42nd Street Memories" doc was great.
It was...that biker dude with the shades on was a hoot. I was born in '77 so I pretty much missed the whole 42nd street experience. I do remember walking around over there from like '89 - '91 and seeing the porno and peep show houses but by then, the VHS craze had taken over so it was pretty much kaput.
Quite frankly, I lost interest as well. I couldn't finish it, but what I did hear came off like a tin foil hat story, making up conspiracy theories because he was disappointed to not get a puzzle. "I've bought every piece of merchandise Grindhouse ever released, I pre-ordered in December, and I think that entitles me to a puzzle. But since I didn't get one, somewhere, someone is sitting on a puzzle with my name on it. Heck, they're probably sitting on top of a whole pile of them!" I think what happened here is that Amazon didn't bother to check that the earliest orders were the ones that got the puzzles, and I get why that would be frustrating. I pre-ordered from Diabolikdvd and got the puzzle. I'm glad I got it, but it wouldn't have sunk my battleship if I didn't.
I'm surprised anyone would waste time on a 40 minute YouTube review when you could be putting those 40 minutes toward watching your Pieces blu-ray. Craziness.
I was listening to it on my way to work today, and not being able to see the timer, I wasn't even 10 minutes into the video before thinking: "Geez, how long is this thing?" Five minutes later, this was what I had: "No puzzle for Paul. Expectations thwarted and feathers ruffled."
Exactly. I had no clue I was getting a puzzle and surprised I did. But it wasn't a big deal if I didn't (and this is coming from a huge Pieces fan)
Here is the only thing that makes zero sense. This has not sold 3000 copies not even remotely close. So as we now know CAV is surely to blme as Paul Zamarelli has exposed them. How can this CAV distributor pull fraud and get away with it? Surely someone can legally sue them for damages. Hardly nobody that preordered got the puzzle. Almost none of the preorders from Amazon had the puzzle etc. This isn't about a simple puzzle it's about fraud.
