 Wow. Well, I guess there are only a select few stories out there to tell.

I think it cool. It may not work but I'm cool with it in premise. I always felt there was room to expand with that series. We live in the day of Amazing Spider-Man so this hardly seems as offensive.

the usual complaint is that studios insist on remaking films that are good to begin with, while ignoring those films that could actually benefit from a redo. so in that spirit, I'm in favour of this. the original is pretty forgettable (I know this for a fact - I have forgotten it), so the potential is there to create something decent. I doubt this will happen, but at least the potential is there....

Still love the japanese original "Ju-On The Grudge" movies (which in themselves was remakes of the Japanese "Ju-On" TV films), though the US remakes was pretty forgettable, and as usual watered down and less scary. Let´s hope they make the new one darker, and take it into a brand new direction.

    Let´s hope it doesn´t turn into a damn PG-13 rated found-footage film.

Is this an attempt to reboot one film or an entire subgenre (J-horror/ghost movies)?

The fact that Ghost House is the studio behind this is worrisome. I have not been a fan of their work up to now, but maybe they have some new ideas.

Were the sequels any good? The original was okay, but not groundbreaking imo.

The second movie was horrible; never gave the third a chance. Who knows, perhaps they'll have a better plan this time around? I only ever saw the Japanese version of the first. Has anyone sen the entire series? Maybe if they stick with the original story line(s)?

Absolutely - they are creepy and effective. I love SMG but the Hollywood remake really felt empty and not very scary

Or a reboot, lol. My only memory of the original is the shower/hands in the hair scene, and creepy ghost kids making wretching sounds with their eyes bulging and mouths open. Do those scenes get redone/reimagined, whatever? Either way, I will probably be skipping out on this/these.

I bet this doesn't end up happening and if it does it's a straight to DVD release.

I'm with you on this one, don't see it happening and if it is a straight to DVD release it will be called something like "The Grudge Tapes" or "The Grudge: Darkness Returns" or "The Grudge Haunting".

    "The Grudge-anormal Activity".

Ghost House Pictures shits out crap for 11-year-old girls. I've not been remotely impressed by anything they've shat out.

Are you referring to the U.S. movies or are you including the Ju-on ones as well? First one was okay, second one was hilariously bad, and the third one was okay. The third movie was DTV, but the production values were pretty decent and some refreshingly grisly scenes (thanks to Toby Wilkins). As for the J-horror version, I've only seen Ju-on: The Grudge 2.

I'm pretty sure Kayako Saeki, her long hair and her frog croak sounds will be in the reboot. The cat and Toshio can stay out of this one.

Maybe they should scrap the whole Japanese mythos and have the curse begin with an American family murder-suicide in the US.
