The original is perfect, I'll give this a pass.
This already reminds me of the remake of The Fog in terms of quality. Pass.
I think this has a lot of mojo going for it with behind the camera talent and good actors, but that is one horrible looking Peter Vincent.
What the f***!!!
This will be shit... pass
That's what I was thinking until I've had some thought about the new look. In the original, Peter Vincent of course represented a dying fad at the time - the horror host. Here is an updated version of the same theme- the gimmicky Metro-goth "magician" (ex. Chris Angel). So I think it could work quite well with the update.
Bad casting IMO especially on the Peter Vincent character- its hard enough to live up to what I consider the unbeatable performance by Roddy McDowall and I dont see this guy even coming remotely close. I dont hold out much hope on this one with the casting and location alone. I hope we at least get a solid blu release of the original out of this.
Note to self:
- Fright Night remake don't exist
- Buy Blu Ray of the original Fright Night
I have to agree as well. The Peter Vincent magician character is pretty lame. It would be hard to find anyone who could match Roddy McDowell. His performance and character were so far from the typical "hero saves the day", you couldn't help but cheer him on.
uhh actually Plasse is cast as Evil Ed.
This already smells like a big pile of diarrhea PASS!
Yeah. Evil Ed will be fat, not some diminutive skinny guy.
A few high-res stills from the Fright Night remake due out in August in the link below. It also appears to be 3D now...
It´s bad enough that it´s a remake... but 3D just makes this impossible.
They shot it in 3D. It won't be some half-assed conversion.
But did the movie really need 3D treatment? Nah.
I actually like the cast (although Ive never been much of a fan of Farrell) I am interested to check this out- and pray for a nice blu of the original because of this
A couple of new stills: http://io9.com/5800830/david-tennant-gives-great-criss-angel-in-new-fright-night-stills/
Yeah, I feel the same way!
Anybody else wondering if Plasse's even seen the original?
Dreamworks and Touchstone have released the first trailer. They've seriously downplayed Peter Vincent's role in the film (you can see him at 2:10 in the trailer if you pause it), but he's there:
Not bad. Colin Farrell doesn't have that seductive vibe like Chris Sarandon does, but as a remake it looks all right.
watched the trailer, did not like it one bit, was not really expecting much, but this looks poor.
