Lists of rankings, bests and favorites are old and done to death, but I'm curious, what are your most hated and loathed horror movies? Not horror movies that just sucked, but horror movies that were just so bad to the point that it actually made you angry.
Black Christmas (Remake) The Fog (Remake) Darkness Falls Graveyard of Horror Chillerama Black Devil Doll (Porn should not masquerade as blaxploitation/horror especially when the actresses are that ugly) The Legend of the Seven Golden Vampires (and I'm a huge Hammer fan) Bigfoot at Holler Creek Canyon (Ron Jeremy, nuff said) Boarding House Those come to mind immediately.
I will amend my list in the future, but this first entry easily tops all else: 1) DRACULA 3000 2) THE FOG (remake) 3) REVENGE IN THE HOUSE OF USHER 4) ABRAHAM LINCOLN: VAMPIRE HUNTER 5) JESSE JAMES MEETS FRANKENSTEIN'S DAUGHTER
It showed some promise with the first segment in a madcap, classless sort of way, but then it was all downhill.
Oh come on people, you can do better than When a Stranger Calls remake (which isn't actually that terrible) and Boardinghouse. Hollywood's New Blood, Terror At Tenkiller, Night of Horror... A multi-million dollar movie I can think of would be AVP: Requiem. That film is beyond stupid. I hate it. 40,000,000 gone to waste.
Easily my most hated horror movie, the one that made me angry was the PSYCHO remake starring Vince Vaughn. When that thing ended i stood up and held my middle finger to the screen for the entire end credits.
I liked both of these, WASC more than the original (which is a pretty ordinary movie save for the opening and closing sequences)! If you want remakes, how about remakes that aren't even remakes? Like Prom Night, for example. Dull, bloodless and with not even a hint of suspense!!! For me; TCM2, TCM:TNG, Mother's Day. Those kinds of movies. I can't quite put my finger on it, but there's a real misogyny there that I find very unpleasant. I know that's largely at the heart of a lot of horror films and I'll never be able to get away from that, but there's vile, and then there's vile, if that makes sense.
Fog remake should win this as it might seriously be the worst movie ever. Prom Night remake is close but has comedic value in parts, like the "hat of invisibility"! I re-visited Sleepy Hollow High the other day and it is one of my worst blind buys from early on in dvd. It went right to the top of my "get rid of" stack.
30 Days of Night: Dark Days Vampire Girl vs Frankenstein Girl Funny Games (not poorly made, I just hated it) Plague Town Deadly End Snake Woman's Curse Sick Girl
Yes, that was out-of-control bad. There was one called "Death Tunnel". My wife and I renamed it "Shit Tunnel" about 20 minutes in. We stuck it out just because we couldn't get over how bad it was. Apparently the location they shot at, Waverly Hills Sanatorium, an amazingly creepy looking building, stopped allowing people to shoot there because they were so angry with how bad this movie was. I actually got fascinated by this horrible movie and wanted to know who was behind it. Turns out it's this guy: A Rob Zombie wannabe by the name of Philip Adrian Booth. Looks like he's done various other shitty looking horror movies. Somehow he keeps on putting stuff out there. This guy should be an inspiration to anyone wanting to get into film. If this guy can somehow make it, anyone should be able to.
Manos: Hands of Fate Nick Phillips' 'Satan's Black Wedding' Wicker Man remake The Legend of Boggy Creek Night of the Lepus Blood Freak Blood Orgy of the She Devils
just this year Texas Chainsaw Hansel And Gretel Witch Hunters The Purge Come And Get Me Cherry Tree Lane Presidents Day
Prom Night (2008) The Fog (2005) Notorious stinker: Children of the Living Dead (2001) is not even fun on a so-bad so-good level. I was also underwhelmed by Chillerama. This could've been so much better without the juvenile gross-out humor. Spiders 3D (2013) - Tibor Takacs return to the big screen was a lifeless, dull effort. Great production values, but how someone can make a movie about giant spiders from space boring is beyond me. Give me Takacs' Mansquito (2005) over this any time. Certainly not bad, but I expected more from The Innkeepers. Ti West needs to dump the slow burner genre, unless he's making a sequel to House of the Devil. I also thought Stakeland was overrated. It's good for what it is, but there's also lots of unintentional humor.
I'm glad to see someone else hated the Purge also. I won't put it on my top list of crap but the characters definitely made me angry. Some recent stinkers I sat through: Universal Soldier: Day of Reckoning Magdalena: Possessed by the Devil Zombie Apocalypse: Redemption Helldriver The Shrine and one of my top all time crap titles: Blair Witch Project
I remember having serious animosity towards The Exorcist: The Version You've Never Seen Before, as it was originally called. I was so angry when I watched that for the first time. The fact that it's trying to work some revisionist history mindfuck on all of us by labelling itself now as The Director's Cut, which is now the apparent default version, since that's the one included in the single disc blu ray release just makes matters worse. I was also incensed by The Butterfly Effect, as I think I've mentioned elsewhere. The fact that it was praised as being intelligent when it was released was what really got under my skin.
