I read that this scene was added from the director`s private unused footage from the movie, and only added to the anchor bay edition.

Well I'll be dipped in dogshit! I'll have to give this movie a revisit, still doubt I'll buy it though.

I know this is old...but I watched this one last night. It was pretty cool. I fell asleep for like 2 minutes and
    missed Stacy Keach's death
, but overall I liked it. The monkey/snake scene kinda bugged me, mostly because it just fucking LINGERED on that poor little bastards head. And I had to watch the monkey being thrown 3-4 times (in slow motion no less) to understand what I was seing. It looks like they superimposed a tree branch in post (??) to cover a hand throwing the balled up monkey. I could be wrong I don't know. But yeah, I think it took them way too fucking long to get to the damn mountain and the cannibals. Once they did though, it was pretty cool. The pig fucking was hilarious, and to know that was real? Hah! Classic. The pig didn't seem to mind either... I'll try to watch the interview tonight, along with HOUSE ON THE EDGE OF THE PARK :).

Actually, the featurette reveals that the tree branch was indeed a post-production optical effect designed to hide whatever forced the poor monkey into the mouth of the snake. Of course, director Sergio Martino claims that the monkey approached the sleeping snake and there was nothing the crew could do to save the animal. :bs:

That was the funniest damn featurette I've ever seen! Haha, they even fucking typed it out. Wow. Martino still comes off as a nice guy, much cooler than most of the other Euro directors I've seen on discs.

I still have the cruddy diamond disc, I've been meaning to get the AB one though, I've been looking for alot of cannibal films lately, ironically, most of them went out of print when i started getting interested. I can still remember that lone copy of Cannibal Ferox at suncoast, that was the last day I saw it.

I believe all the cannibal films released in the US so far are still in print. It might be easier for you to order them online.

I didn't get paid much for my appearance in this movie but at least I had some fun. I have some personal 8x10 pics autographed by me if anyone is interested. Most are with the pig but I have others too.

  16. Finally watched this film last night for the first time.

It didn't add anything new to the subgenre but it stuck with the formula because it works. I thought that the cast was great and they made their usual stock characters more interesting than in other Italian films of this kind. I also enjoyed the limited gore effects (decapitaion, traps, castration...) and the cannibal tribe's masks were very creepy! I loved the waterfall scene and the rafting scene.

The ending was a little vague and the movie lagged a little from time to time but overall it was a very enjoyable cannibal film.

betterdan, your scene was the best. ;) But I was also surprised to see the masturbating female cannibal. Surprisingly explicit! (but no complaints here)
