I'm going with Hunchback of the Morgue. To be honest, every one of his flicks I have watched I always enjoy. They make me laugh.
I just watched Blue Eyes of the Broken Doll and Human Beasts earlier this week. Thanks to BCI, I've gotten to see a lot more Naschy films in the last two years. Vengeance of the Zombies is my personal favorite. Horror Rises from the Tomb would probably rank second.
Yup, those are good. Mummy's Revenge, Curse of the Devil and Panic Beats were alright - not the greatest, but still entertaining. I thought School Killer was pretty good too - better than I was expecting.
I was hoping Assignment Terror would be listed, and I almost voted for it too. Any movie with Frankenstein, Dracula, Wolfman and The Mummy all in it has got to taken into consideration for any film discussion. But I had to go with Night of the Werewolf. He's had better performances than the one in that film, but as a whole (since he wrote and directed it) it's easily my favorite. Once you get past that though, I'd be very difficult for me to beginning deciding which one to pick. Dr. Jekyll VS The Werewolf might be next, but again it's hard saying. They're all so damn good for pretty much the same reasons! I've picked up all the BCI releases as soon as they came out and never regretted it for even a split second. I wish more movies like these were coming out; it's too bad more people aren't interested in them.
I think plenty of people are interested in them, it's just that the rights holders have unrealistic expectations as to their monetary value to the extent that releasing them is unprofitable.
Horror Rises from the Tomb. I've seen that one many, many times over the years. The new BCI DVD is the best edition, by far. Panic Beats is worth watching just for the awesome music score.
Is there a legit dvd release of Assigment Terror? I'm region free and would love to get a copy of this? Haven't seen it in nearly ten years.
There's a R1 DVD under the Dracula vs. Frankenstein title (not the Al Adamson one). Looks OOP but used copies are pretty cheap. This is the copy I have and it's a washed out Pan & Scanned dubbed version but does the job. Ironically the title isn't right as Frankenstein's Monster never battles Dracula.
That would explain why I didn't find the dvd under a regular web search. I prefer the title Assignment Terror, but do love the above Al Adamson movie. Years ago I had Assignment Terror on vhs. I remember being disappointed with the actual monster fights, but still applaud this film for the all star monster lineup and of course the Naschy factor. Thanks for the tip. I'm sure this won't be any worse than my Brentwood dvd of Black Samurai.
I remember seeing Inquisition many years ago - didn't even know what the title was or that it was a Naschy film until somewhat recently - there was one scene in particular that stuck in my memory all these years. I did a couple quick google searches but no R1 dvds came up for this- are there no region free or R1 releases of this movie?
My favorite is Horror Rises From the Tomb. Did anyone else purchase Muchas Gracias Senor Lobo? http://www.creepy-images.com/shop/product_info.php?products_id=21 This is a truly unique book and a must for Naschy fans.
