You left out Ilsa, The Wicked Warden and Emanuelle In America. I would have left out The Running Man, it really doesn't have a snuff theme.
You know, I've never seen any of the Ilsa movies, so that's my bad. Emanuelle is mostly a skin flick that ends with a pretty effective snuff angle. I thought The Running Man would be a better choice because the idea of killing people on camera for entertainment is the essence of what snuff is all about, even if the film is more of a dystopian action film.
Voted for Tesis one of the best snuff movies ever! Easily blows Videodrome out of the water like a dead fish.
Considering that snuff = the intentional murder on camera with the intent to sell, most these films don't even fit.
I'm conflicted. For personal favorite film, disregarding the importance it places on the themes surrounding "snuff": Videodrome. Because I friggin' love that film. But my favorite film in its capacity to "deal with" snuff: The Howling. Musically, I know the opening to the film wasn't doing "all it could" to suggest Karen was actually descending into a world of sleaze, but still visually and thematically- this was one hell of an opening to a werewolf film. Or a horror film about repression + trauma triggering a parting with one's memory or identity.
