Other - Se7en, followed by the Alien Anthology. Looking back, 2010 was a good year for horror on Blu-ray.
I went with House just because it was its first R1 release and they really did a great job with the transfer - and I love the movie too. Grindhouse would be my runner up- was so happy they finally released it the way I saw it at the theatre
Best Horror blu: 1 - The Exorcist 2 - Psycho 3 - The Evil Dead (not my first choice because of the lack of extras. but the A/V is great) 4 - Se7en also 5 - Phantom of the Paradise 6 - Nightmare on Elm Street 7 - City of the Living Dead 8 - Living dead at the Manchester Morgue 9 - New York Ripper 10 - Tru Blood season 2 Best Sci-fi blu: 1 - Alien Anthology 2 - Avatar 3 - Minority Report 4 - Hardware 5 - Clash of the titans (remake) 6 - Videodrome
Hard to say what is my favorite, and it depends on what to base it on. For just "wow, that looks fucking better than I ever thought possible" would be Nightmare on Elm Street and Seven. But neither bring anything new extras-wise. So I went other as my favorite of the year hits all the marks. It looks better than I thought possible, after years of VHS, dark downloads and then what I thought to be a great 16X9 R2 dvd dub, none of which are close. Plus it's stacked with new features. Best of all, it never had any region release past VHS. Even though it's more sci-fi than horror... GALAXY OF TERROR! Fucking awesome all around package New York Ripper deserves mention, but it was released 9/29/09. That has the same wow factor as Nightmare on Elm Street, maybe even more. Also Night of the Creeps for just existing, but that was also late 09.
Other- Humanoids from the Deep. I'm hoping to get the Spirits of the Dead and Battle Royale discs as late Christmas presents, but I don't actually have them in my hands so I can't really vote for them. I just have my fingers crossed that they're one of the gifts I receive from my girlfriend when she returns next week.
Psycho is just an iconic masterwork and the fact that's on Blu makes me happy.Second place: The Exorcist.Having the choice of watching the superior theatrical version is great. Happy New Year in advance from Chile!
Ripper, MBV & Jennifer's Body were all late 2009. Anyways, my vote is for Maniac with the Exorcist a close 2nd
