I think I will wait till the totally unexpurgated lovingly digitally recreated limited edition directors cut becomes available later in the year!

Saw this last night and thought it was awesome. Easily one of the best horror remakes to come out in a while. I'm surprised by some of the hate this is getting but I guess you can't please everyone.
I thought the gore was great and right up a gore-hounds ally. I didn't find this boring in the slightest either; there was always something happening. There were also a few good scares, plus the score in this film helped escalate what was going on.

I'll admit the Abomination was a slight letdown but they still made it creepy. Overall I really enjoyed this and welcome a sequel. For me they got this remake right. 9/10

Saw it last night and I loved it!
I did get a bit worried after reading a lot of negative comments over here, but it was just as fun as I had hoped for.
And I had no problems at all with the characters/actors.

One thing that I also enjoyed was the soundtrack. No damn pop/rock songs, just an old-school horror movie score that worked perfectly for the movie.

Everyone in the theater had a blast with the movie, and I can´t wait to see it again.

Glad to see some others that liked this as much as I did - I agree this is a remake done right for once

    What they did announce:

Its mist annoying because we've been told by the makers that there's an unrated cut and we will be getting it. Guess we'll see.

Just been looking at details of the Evil Dead on the BBFC website, and they have given the film a certification for video, the entry notes 'Evil Dead - Theatrical cut', now while there is no certification for a 'director's cut', noting the entry as the 'theatrical cut', suggest they will be putting another edition up for certification, will keep and eye on any developments.

It's not much to go on but that is certainly good news. Hopefully there will be an unrated cut like they promised.

it is very unusual for items to be listed as 'theatrical cut', this only happens where there is indeed an additional cut, there is no more info, but it is promising.

The Target Steelbook looks ridiculously cool. If they release an unrated later I wont mind double dipping.

I finally got around to seeing this, and thought it was a good effort. The prologue had me in doubt (is that Billy-Bob from ED II?), but things sat in well after that. Better than I thought it would be going in. Skimming through this thread I'm surprised to see so many vehemently angered by the post credit scene. I liked it myself. I didn't really see it as suggesting that the ED movies tie in. It just seemed like a fun gag for the primitive screwheads lame enough to stick around, and for me it was.

So did anywhere confirm if this was going to just the theatrical cut being released everywhere or if an uncut version would be available?

The VOD release on the Playstation 3 is the theatrical cut. So I would assume thats whats being released everywhere.
