I don't know if it has been released yet but it looks like a nice addition to the Argento collection.
Mainly because it also features the 105 min. cut (Vlachio!;))

I don't know if an English language (subbed) edition will be released but knowing AWE's history they probably will.

They corrected things in the past (New York Ripper) so here's hoping they used a new transfer without the notorious freeze frame..

"Mordets Melodi" is a nice title! :D

Looks like an impressive package. Wonder how good the picture looks, if it compares to the old AB version. Does that disc even look good by today's standards? My TV isn't big enough for me to really judge :/

If the picture quality is as good as the anchor bay version I'll buy it. Thank you for the info crystal plumage. [IMG]

    You're welcome!

I hope Stige can confirm it doesn't have the freeze frame.
IIRC,not certain, there's no freeze frame in the 105 min. version. So if they just used that final scene......I might be wrong here though..

Sounds awesome. I have a couple of other imports from Another World, and they did a solid job on those. Neither of those two discs had English subs for the Italian audio tracks...but they did have English audio tracks.

Xploited got both of those in stock (cheap too), so I'm betting Tony will get this one too.

Also the title of the best Danish 'horror' film ever (1944), highly recommended for old time buffs.

I just won the AWE NY Ripper DVD off of eBay for $18 shipped.

How are the prices over at Absurd?

AWE seem to the shining knight for us Euro-Cult FANS. After NY Ripper, Stagefright, and now Deep Red, they are fast becoming a leading force in CULT releasing.

original italian opening credits and the end credits are restored to David Hemming's moving face , the image is also sharper than the anchorbay version, the english soundtrack is only 2.0 but is is good and the international shortened version , a must have for fans. the italian 5.1 track is very good to my ears. ,y dvd player showed english subtitles were available
    but haven't checked yet

  18. End Credits screengrabs + shop info

For the long Italian version (Director's cut) English default subtitles ARE available during Italian spoken scenes and as Stige notes, yes, the end title credits have been fixed, showing you David Hemming's moving face reflected in the deep red pool of blood, as you can see here in the following screengrabs from the the disc.

    Read this,a good read:
    http://whiggles.landofwhimsy.com/archives/2008/12/profondo_rosso_awe_dvd_impress.html

    Especially this piece:
I'm sticking with Bill Lustig's "aged NTSC master",as per Anchor Bay's DVD,for now.

I am starting to think the problem is NTSC vs. PAL here

it looked sharper on my TV (PAL) 42 full HD

I am wondering if the NTSC players and sets which have to compress the signal to NSCT 535 lines makes the image worse
