from director Jim Wynorski posted today

I can't post the artwork as yet, but a deal has been struck to release CHOPPING MALL on BluRay through Lionsgate as soon as late summer. Their art dept. did a...n amazing job on the front and back covers and the disc will be chock full of extras, both old and new. I'm so happy that the film will finally be getting the restoration it needed; and that the fans deserve. And get this....they're already searching thru their vaults for more 80s titles to give the BluRay treatment. Thank you all for your encouragement and best wishes - banging my head against a wall for the last two years finally paid off

    That's great news! :)
Since it got a 4k transfer, I hope that they also throw in a Ultra BD in there.

I was crushed when the release was canceled, a couple of years ago.
Hope this means that Lionsgate finally has gotten their thumbs out of their asses, and are ready to unleash their 80:s catalog on BD.

Great news, love chopping mall, lets hope Waxwork will be on the list, the Full Full uncut (not the unrated version) has been a dream of mine, don't suspect it will ever happen, but I heard that about my bloody valentine & nightbreed, so there is always a chance.

So giant floating heads of Kelli Maroney and Tony O'Dell. Think they'll have room for floating heads of Dick Miller, Paul Bartel, Mary Woronov and Barbara Crampton? /joking

Got my fingers-crossed for a KILLBOTS reversible cover.

Lionsgate must have fired their whole graphics department prior to this release because I can't think of any of their DVD's having even the least bit attractive cover art. I mean just look at the cover for The Gate! Eesh....its almost as bad as trying to watch the highly compressed film on a fucking DVD5.

I don't have much faith in Lionsgate releasing this, but hey, at least Chopping Mall is getting enough attention for a BD release.

Don't forget the amazingly bad cover for the Monster Squad! - then they had the gaul to include the original art on a card inside!!!!!

From what I hear Lionsgate is getting spanked at the box office, and so when the drought sets in you dig deep into your well instead of skimming off what's on top.

I'm just worried if they're strapped for cash they're not going to put time or effort into whatever they put out there, but just grab what's on hand. But based on Wynorski's posts that doesn't seem to be happening. In fact it sounds like they're taking this new initiative with all considerations.

I wouldn't put too much stock into LG digging into their vaults. They said the same thing back when the studio released THE MONSTER SQUAD on Blu-ray - they promised to unleash a bunch of shit that never happened. The DVD that had like 8 movies stuffed into 2 or 3 discs doesn't count. Let's get Chopping Mall released first then we can start daydreaming about crossing titles off our wishlists.

Agreed, I'll believe it when I see it from Lionsgate. I have no doubt that they'll go ahead with Chopping Mall now ... and then probably nothing. They do things like release a Leprechaun Blu-ray set (albeit pushed by their remake) ... and then nothing.

I hope they prove me wrong, but they are one of the worst studios as far as releasing things on the format.

Saw this ages ago and didn't care for it much. This announcement has me curious to watch it again soon though. Definitely good news for those who love it though.

It's not great but has great poster art and a lot of us saw it back when it came out so there is a nostalgic fondness for it.

The poster art is definitely nice. My wallet would appreciate it not being great lol. It's definitely a title a lot of people have been wanting for a while now so that's cool. The older releases look pretty bad, it's not even in widescreen.

Damn, $40 is super steep. Tried to watch this again the other day and just couldn't get into it. Guess that's lucky for my wallet lol.

Blood Diner is the same price at the moment. I'm definitely waiting for a review and price drop for now.
