Official website: http://www.empirepicturesdocumentary.com/ Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/empirepicturesdocumentary HD Teaser Trailer: https://vimeo.com/142910151 It's currently up as a Kickstarter project with various perks: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/ballyhoomotionpics/celluloid-wizards-in-the-video-wasteland Let's see if Charles Band will fund the remainder of the project, eh?
Sorra feels like a knock-off of the surprisingly successful Cannon documentary, but I'll watch it if it gets made. It's being done by Ballyhoo, who did the special features for some Scream Factory titles and Shout's MST3K sets.
Everytime I see these big box exclusives I cringe. I remember everybody receiving the troma big box exclusives crushed. I wonder if they know that those will need to be mailed in a box? Not some cheap ass bubble mailer which always seems obligatory anyway.
So far they've raised nearly $20,000, and need around $5,000+ more to meet the goal. 3 days to go before the campaign closes. The main contribution amount is $40 — and you'll received the Blu-ray/DVD Combo of the documentary, the "Mandroid" 7-button set, and a special thanks in the end credits.
Shipping to the US is included, yes. I gotta pay extra in Canada for shipping, but still I get to support it directly and a few extra perks with the button set and your name in the doc's credits make it worthwhile. So if you ask me, $40 is a good value for a Blu-ray/DVD combo, a button set, and a screen credit. But you won't see it on streaming if it doesn't reach it's goal... as this Kickstarter only gets funded if it reaches the $25,000 goal.
It has surpassed the funding goal, so the project is a go! Just remember it probably won't be shipping out until December next year. The documentary has to be completed, discs pressed, etc. The announced bonus features can be viewed in my above post. Funding is currently at $27,459+ (458 backers) with 15 hours left to go before it ends.
Post production still on going. They're offering up some t-shirts https://ballyhoomotionpictures.com/shop?olsPage=products Kinda cool designs that go that extra step. But I've kinda sworn off black t-shirts because I have so damn many.
