In celebration of Jess Franco's birthday today, we're sharing all the details on our upcoming Blu-ray release of CECILIA!
Cecilia, a haughty aristocrat who enjoys taunting her servants with her flawless physique, finds her life turned upside down when she is violated by the victims of her vicious games. This eye-opening experience leads the newly enlightened libertine into a sordid series of swingin’ socialite soirees, mind-bending bohemian happenings, and brazen backwoods orgies. But when her loving husband also embraces this omnisexual lifestyle, and her amorous antics arouse violence in her sadistic suitors, can Cecilia escape the cruel consequences of her own erotic excess?
Also known as SEXUAL ABERRATIONS OF A HOUSEWIFE, this extraordinarily rare entry in the exotic oeuvre of Jess Franco (VENUS IN FURS, SUCCUBUS) features the fabulous Muriel Montossé (THE INCONFESSABLE ORGIES OF EMMANUELLE) at the mercy of Olivier Mathot (CANNIBALS), Pierre Taylou (EXORCISM), Antonio Mayans (SADOMANIA), and even Lina Romay (WOMEN BEHIND BARS). Now this cavalcade of carnal delights has been freshly scanned and restored from its original negative, and presented in all its uncut, uncensored splendor in High Definition for the first time ever!

Put me down for Two Evil Eyes and The New York Ripper. I hope Inferno is on the 4k restoration docket.
The Prowler better be one of those new restorations.
And, yes, Inferno would be amazing on UHD.
From Dawn of the Discs Facebook post:
On the most recent episode of Shock Waves, Blue Underground Bill Lustig officially announced new 4K restorations of Vigilante (currently in progress) Daughter of Darkness 4K (from the Original Camera Negative), and The Final Countdown restoration from the Original Camera Negative (once Technicolor reopens)!

Nice, those are all titles that really needed a new restoration done. I'm hoping The Prowler gets announced at some point soon. That one needs a new scan. I love how much BU has embraced the UHD market, it needs all the support it can get.
William Lustig broke the news that our next two 4K UHD releases are THE HOUSE BY THE CEMETERY and THE NEW YORK RIPPER, coming August 25th!
I wish they had included a UHD, in the last 3-disc release of House by the Cemetery disc.
But I guess they wanted to test the waters with Zombie first.
Let's hope that the black levels and contrast are better on the UHD disc.
HDR might help out with the crushed highlights, thanks to the wider dynamic range.
I’m thrilled. I’m always down for Fulci in 4K.
2020 sure looks like it's going to be a great year for cultfilms on UHD
no, they wanted to make sure that they could sell the same film to the same crowd again
You can count the back catalog of UHD genre releases on one hand at this point in the game. They were being cautious about the future of UHD and I don't blame them. Suspiria just came out last November (which they wouldn't have direct cost/sales figures on) and Blue Underground's first release hasn't even hit the shelves yet.
It shows great integrity to come out this early to announce all current and upcoming 4k restorations will be on UHD. If you can point to a distributor who's made an earlier and broader statement to their fans about UHD I'd like to hear it.
100% this ^
I’ll happily support their foray into UHD. The format needs all the support it can get and of course I’d welcome more Fulci in 4K. Hell yes.
then look how Vinegar Syndrome did it, notice how their UHD releases are released at the same time as the BluRay so you have the choice of which version to buy
hell, for subscribers the first UHD they did (which came out of nowhere) was included without extra cost
every genre film released on UHD is a good thing and I applaud that but the timing is off with these announcements so I'll stick to my more cynical view of it
i also notice that the UHD's BU does, do not include the soundtrack CD, thus not creating 1 single edition that has everything and further proving to me that BU hope to sell these editions to the same crowd again
Hoping for The Prowler as well, and will definitely get The Final Countdown. I would love it if BU or any of these other boutique labels would give customers the options of just purchasing the 4K disc to add to releases they already have (for example the recent 3 disc Ltd editions by BU).
