Nice! The darker scenes are looking scarier again.
The only problem with the Arrow disc, was that they (kinda typical to Arrow) made it brighter.
Is the negative damage, during the shark scene, repaired in this one?

Yeah holy shit Maniac looks incredible, I watched it the other night. Honestly it's probably one of the biggest jumps in quality from one blu-ray release to another. I'd have to agree with the 5/5 rating on blu-ray.com, this is up there with other 16mm restorations like Texas Chainsaw Massacre, Henry: Portrait of a Serial Killer and Evil Dead. Absolutely breathtaking.

Zombie looks amazing too. I thought the Arrow looked really good (and it was a good restoration, much better than the previous BU release), but this blows it away. The Arrow now looks too bright and washed out. You can really appreciate the cinematography on the new 4K, everything looks so deep and lush and the shadow detail is massively improved.

Pretty sure I have this Maniac set under the tree waiting on me......but if not I'm ordering it Dec 26th hahaha
I still have the dvd......the upgrade for me should be amazing. Can't wait to watch that Savini shotgun head explosion scene.... might be my all time favorite kill.

Awesome. Thought Arrow's Zombie looked great so it will be interesting to see how the new BU improves further. Previous Maniac Blu had some serious issues though. Hopefully both are coming from Santa if we haven't been too naughty this year.

I hadn't seen Maniac since DVD in the early '00s (well over a decade ago), so I thoroughly enjoyed revisiting it via Blue Underground's 4K remaster. Terrific movie.

One of my favorite parts of this blu-ray (and it was probably on the old blu-rays as well) is the collection of old news pieces on the movie's backlash. One of the more insane ones features pornographer Al Goldstein cursing out HBO for airing violent horror films while stabbing a blow-up doll! He seems really upset that HBO would air Prom Night at 9PM when children could see it, which is pretty mild as far as these movies go. These were a riot!

The outtakes were terrific as well. I love old 42nd Street footage, and there's plenty of that here (Nurse Sherri on the marquee). There's even a cameo from Mrs. Voorhees' decapitated torso that Savini recycled from Friday The 13th (you might be able to spot it in the movie, but I watched this after the movie so I wasn't looking for it). There are so many extras here, I'll have to go back for "The Joe Spinell Story". Great buy!

I was going to mention Henry: Portrait Of A Serial Killer. There is a HUGE difference between the original blu-ray and the 4K remaster.
