Grizzly (1976) couldn't finish watching the other film as I found it awful.
Prophecy for the sleeping bag scene. I laugh till I pee every time.
This isn't even close for me. Grizzly is obviously a B movie ripoff of Jaws. But it's fun--and lovingly crafted by people with genuine affection for the genre. Prophecy, on the other hand, is pretentious garbage churned out by Oscar bait types slumming for pay checks and demonstrating boundless contempt for horror films. How many 70s activist causes are referenced inside the first fifteen minutes? And how awful are the over-earnest performances by Talia Shire and Armand Assante? I'm sure I've seen a more ridiculous scene than the one featuring the mutant bear infant near the end of Prophecy. But I can't come up with one off the top of my head. Watching that scene genuinely depresses me. And it's a perfect example of how ill-conceived Prophecy is across the board.
It makes me sad to think about how many entertaining flicks Roger Corman could have made with the money that was funneled into Prophecy.
This is a tough one, but I had to give the edge to The Prophecy. So weird that they are both PG-rated too
Grizzly (1976) fun popcorn film the other movie kind of bored me.
Man...this was a tough one for me. Love both films but I have to give a slight edge to Grizzly.
