The 12/09 date was the certification publication date, not release date.

Great news about release, I'd been looking to buy the previous release but I'll wait? This was released in UK by warner could arrow now have a deal with then?

I didn't know Alice was a warner title in US, it's certainly not warner in UK.

Got prey in the post today.

Don't normally pre-order, but the limited edition contents made it worth it in this case, I'm sure it will sell out quickly, fingers crossed the movie is fun.

I'll try and watch the weekend and confirm thoughts and details of picture quality.

In the UK it's apparently not, but in the US it is with Warner who also possess the original film negative. The Warner logo + licensing info are displayed prominently on the back cover and booklet of the Arrow release.

That would explain why 88 films released it in UK, I've heard arrow print is better, which is no surprise, but I thinks it's because they had better elements at their disposal.

The Arrow transfer comes from the original film negative. I also have the 88 Films Blu-ray, but the Arrow transfer blows it out of the water in every possible way.

Just about to sit down and watch it, I've opened the package, in the UK the certificates is shown on the disc, the US cut has been rated 15 and the international/composite cut has been rated 18. I was also going to international/composite cut, but it seems the one to go to for the higher rating, fingers crossed it's more gore!

I suspect MGM will want to do the UHD disc themselves. At least initially. Ten years from now we'll be seeing someone like Arrow putting out the UHD from an 8K master. ;)

And it looks like MGM will be putting out their first UHD this October with 007: The Daniel Craig Collection. I imagine since Robocop was an early-early Blu-ray we'll be seeing it on UHD in 2020.

So I watched the prey, I thought I'd go with the longest cut, so went with the composite cut, it runs for 1hr 42 mins.

It was long, boy was it long, not seeing the film for over 20 years I didn't realise it was such a slow burner, for this the US cut at 1 hr 19 will work much better.

With regards to the gypsy sequence, it's long, very long didn't expect it to be that long, last between 15 to 20 mins, there is no additional gore in this sequence but boy there's a lot of sex (why I believe the certificate jumped from 15 to 18 in UK), one of the stars of the sequence I swear was in porn movies, don't know his name didn't see it on the titles. For fans of the movie, I think it will be nice to see, but doesn't add anything, for me it was just a distraction.

With regards to print, Arrow have done a great job, it looks a little rough at the beginning, the title sequence has sone major wobbles, and there are a couple of frames with major print damage, it's about halfway through when the rangers are talking over sandwiches, it's a transition shot, so you may not notice.

Apart from these issues, print looks very clean, nice colours with mild non distracting grain.

All in all glad I purchased, for fans of the movie I don't think they will have any complaints, for new viewers, if you go in knowing it's slow moving and no blood batht and go for US print, you should enjoy.

Received The Hills Have Eyes Part 2 set + Who Saw Her Die? in the mail earlier today. Nice presentation with the HHE2 box... I'm still shocked they went whole hog for this one, but it's most welcome.

There was one of those poster cards in the case for Southland Tales, so I suppose that one is still coming soon. Then again, one of those was also stuck in an Arrow release's case in late 2018.
