I hope so, I like some April fools stuff, but when announcements get made for movies high on peoples wish lists in the name of April pranks, it just seems cruel to me, especially the package they touted, I saw the film many years ago and didn't like it, but I was prepared to revisit with the package announced!

Yeah, it's in poor taste to make false announcements for titles the fans have been clamouring for. And I doubt Arrow would do that. In any event, I'm getting my hopes up. The Prey is not a top tier slasher, but it has more stuff that I like than stuff I don't. Bring on Honeymoon Horror as well for more disfigured maniac mayhem!

As for American Horror Project Vol. II, now we're talking! Two of the titles I've only read about, and I'm curious enough, but the inclusion of The Child alone makes this set worth it for me. It's spooky, it's low-budget, it's 70's, the zombie makeup is crusty, there's gore - I'm happy. The child actress is no great shakes, but this is the kind of movie that rises above its imperfections for me.

Could be a genuine April Fool's joke seeing as the "brand new artwork" is from the UK Transworld home video release, so it ain't new at all... we'll have to wait until Texas Frightmare Weekend to know for sure.

Cmon - please don't be a joke! Someone went through creating this custom artwork just for a joke?!?! No way - it has to happen.

I like how they incorporated some nature (the bugs) into the artwork :)

Don't worry. It's not a joke. It's real. That is just the slipcover. There's 3 arts like Blood Rage had.

Arrow took a lot of heat several years ago for a false April Fool's announcement of Ghost Dad, of all things. I can't see them making the same mistake on a slasher that hasn't had an official release in decades.

The Arrow sale at Bull Moose that I mentioned last week is up and running. All titles are basically 50% off full srp. I picked up A Fish Called Wanda and Reanimator yesterday.

We weren’t fooling… slasher classic THE PREY is coming to Arrow Video!

In case you needed a little further proof, here's our very own Ewan Cant and star Debbie Thureson, pictured in London yesterday staring wide-mouthed in shock and awe at the news.

A host of extras and newly-commissioned artwork are in progress and will be revealed at a later date, but we're happy to confirm that the first release will indeed be a 2-disc Blu-ray edition featuring a limited slipcover adorned with the original UK VHS artwork we previously posted (which is of course not a new artwork, as some of you canny campers already pointed out).

And if you simply can’t wait until the Blu-ray release for your Prey-fix, be sure to join us at Texas Frightmare Weekend 2019 next month for the world premiere of our newly restored version of THE PREY and take the opportunity to discuss cream cheese and cucumber sandwiches with cast members Lori Lethin, Carel Struycken and Jackson Bostwick!

Great news. I had a feeling it was but I also hoped it was true because it named names of actors and the convention. It would be a cruel joke to take it that far because the uninformed would be hounding these people if they bought tickets and such but it turned out not to be true.

I'm pumped for this, and even more excited Arrow is taking the reigns here.

As for the versions, I gotta say the "Gypsy Version" is pretty lame. I'm not surprised they took it out of the released cut. It kinda ruins the flow of the movie, and is like soft porn. The main gypsy guy is an actual porn actor in real life - can't recall his name, but I definitely recognize him from some flicks.

Great news for fans but I don't get the love for The Prey. Watching it was the equivalent of taking a sleeping pill. I am curious to know what this Gypsy Version is though, just for the sake of being informed? :p

For me, it's nostalgia. I hate, Hate, HATE the current horror stuff. Makes me appreciate many vintage films I dissed back then. I wasn't blown away by The Prey when I saw it. It wasn't scary but when it was on Showtime or HBO you watched it - simply because horror flicks are fun.

Yeah, it boring as fuck, and things doesn't really get going until the last 10-15 minutes.

I love a good 80:s slasher, like The Burning, My Bloody Valentine, Hell Night etc.
But when I went through basically every damn 80:s slasher movie I could get my hand on, during my teen years, I realized that, at least, 9 out of 10 sucks ass, and nothing happens until the last 5 minutes, with barely any gore to make up for wasting my time.

Yes, there were a lot of great horror movies made back then, but just as today, there were just as much shit coming out every damn week.

I think this has been a well worked PR stunt by Arrow, announce a highly sought after title on April 1st, then circulate a rumor it's an April fools prank, this gets the horror communities talking, getting additional exposure through reports and conversation, then confirm it's real, every ones happy and more conversations confirming this ensue, genius!
