Both? Neither? It's a spoof on Phantom Of The Opera, and even though it's comedic in tone and fairly silly, it's also played kind of straight? It's not really overtly slapstick or anything, but also not serious enough to be an actual horror film. Honestly, I'm at a loss here. Mostly, I'd say it's just charming '80s shopping mall / USA Up All Night nostalgia.
Haven't seen Phantom of the Mall, in 30 years. Wasn't impressed by it back then, so I don't know if I dare to blindbuy. I think I'll check out a torrent first
April titles appear to have leaked ahead of tomorrow's announcement (note: these are from a UK listing, so some may be UK only): Twelve Monkeys (4K UHD/Blu-ray) Twisting the Knife - Four Films By Claude Chabrol (Blu-ray Box Set) Zokki (Blu-ray) Rogue Cops and Racketeers (Blu-ray) Henry - Portrait of a Serial Killer (4K UHD/Blu-ray) Henry - Portrait of a Serial Killer (Limited Edition)
Nice, I held out for Twelve Monkeys on UHD. As for Phantom of the Mall, I'm not too impressed with the Limited Edition's prices on eBay so that seems to indicate it's not too desirable of a film...
My Deadly Games "Original Artwork Slipcover" arrived yesterday from Diabolik. I love how they did both "embossing" and "spot varnish" on the Slip... but would be difficult to show up in any pics of it. It's a movie that I have not seen in probably at least 25+ years now, so it'll be nice to revisit it. At this point my memory of the movie is hazy at best.
I watched 'the Last Matinee' last night. I thought it was fantastic, a real fun slasher. Will definitely be picking it up.
I received Don't Go in the House 3-Disc UK exclusive earlier today. Really nice presentation, especially with the fold-out poster + booklet. No regrets skipping the domestic Severin release. I also received Bog / Mako: The Jaws of Death Blu-ray from Dark Force... Mako looks a lot better (2K scan from the uncut camera negative) than the worn and damaged Arrow film print transfer used in the He Came From the Swamp: The William Grefé Collection boxset. It also runs longer. The Arrow disc had a running time of 86 minutes, and the Dark Force disc runs at 93 minutes. The camera negative still had some minor damage to it at some points during the film, but was a welcome upgrade regardless. What's different? I haven't had a chance to compare yet... but we're talking about a 7 minute difference between them. I'm still surprised that Arrow couldn't use, or didn't locate access to the negative in time for that release.
Yep, my "Creepers" exclusive shipped last night from them. I haven't seen any reviews anywhere as of yet however...

I ordered Deadly Games from Arrow US and it arrived today. The only reason I'm mentioning it is that it came in a huge oversized box. Not sure why they shipped it like that unless they ran out of smaller sizes.
I received the exclusive "Beyond the Door II" Slipcover version of Shock from them that came the same way, in a big oversized box. I'm not too hot about Arrow US's shipping to tell the truth. I pre-ordered the exclusive "Deadly Games" Slipcover from Diabolik however, and already received it back on Feb. 12th. I'm surprised it took so much longer for you to get yours direct from Arrow.
