I pre-ordered mine on June 22nd and it's scheduled to arrive in two days. The release date for this is August 18th so it's not really late yet. Also has this set already sold out? The price on Amazon is $220.00.

I've seen people say Arrow mentioned it being 70% sold out, but a lot of orders got cancelled and listings taken down from online stores, so where the remaining 30% are is the question. Amazon does seem to have a bunch. That price is a jump up though. Before the stock issues it was regularly listed at $100 cheaper than that.

If it were on the Diabolik end, I'd have no concerns, but the lengthy Pre-Shipment status is associated with the USPS tracking number. I know this isn't particularly uncommon with Media Mail at this point, but with this set being limited and nearly sold out, I'll breathe a deep sigh of relief when the tracking updates or the set arrives.

I've seen the same thing happen with the Solid Metal Nightmares set, It was hard to get virtually everywhere at first and then more stock showed up at stores. I just think it's a supply chain issue and most stores like Grindhouse, Diabolik, etc. should be getting more stock in soon.

    I think you are! o_O

I honestly could never make out a lot of what was happening in the movie the 2 times I've watched it. Riddick always seemed stale are boring and I don't remember the crew he's with being any better. I tried Chronicles of Riddick a few months back and got maybe 10/15 minutes in before turning it off.

Same here, I like both. I didn't love Pitch Black the first time I saw it years ago...but it got much better on repeat viewings. The Chronicles of Riddick I really liked from the first viewing.

I've honestly never really heard of it being a hated film before now. It's 7.1 on IMDB and has 222+k votes, and few voters gave it less than a 5 rating.

I could see somebody giving it a 5 and average, but I don't understand how it's some truly bad horror/sci-fi film without any fans?

I've never seen the sequels, but I only owned the original Pitch Black on DVD, which made it easier to upgrade than had I already owned the blu-ray.

Received it today along with the big fancy Arrow box version of Flash Gordon.

    4. My idiot cousin basically turned himself into a Vin Diesel clone. Watched all his movies, followed the publicity news. Shaved his head, took up weight lifting. And picked up the same low energy and slow speech tossed up as cool but landing as vacuous and superficial.

He probably had a couple friends that bought it, but I'm certain most people were just laughing at him.

Oh I'm just mucking around as I've pretty much never heard people talk about it or bring it up. Plus I could never tell what was going on for long portions of the movie and really don't like that blown out colour look.

Was the version you saw too dark?
Seen it both in the theaters and on disc, but never had any problems during the dark scenes.

Not sure. It's been a while so it could have been my setup at the time.

My Gamera box set arrived today. This was one day later than originally estimated and three days after street release. Someone else mentioned that this blew the Criterion Godzilla box out of the water and I agree 100%. Arrow once again puts out a beautiful set. This is similar to the HG Lewis Feast box set in size and weight. Well worth purchasing.

I kind of with they'd separate the older and newer Gamera films. I'd probably bite on the newer ones as they're surprisingly good, but I have no interest in the goofy older movies.

The Gamera collection is already selling for over $300 on Ebay. Did they only press 50 sets?

Mine came in the mail yesterday, and despite seeing pictures beforehand, I was unprepared for just how gargantuan this thing is. I think this is the most impressive piece I've ever bought, eclipsing things like the Murnau, Borzage & Fox box, or the Lawrence of Arabia 50th Anniversary set. I can't think of anything else in my collection that comes close in terms of sheer presentation.
