There are new interviews with three of the cast members. But considering they botched the terrific doc from the Shriek Show DVD, yeah, pretty much.
Pretty much yeah, and the new Interviews like CPT said. It's hardly worth $27 though. The 88 Films Blu-ray from a couple of years back was actually far nicer in my opinion...and that actually included "two" JBD trailers on the disc too.
This is my third blu-ray for this title. It's the damn collector in me as I haven't watched any of them yet.
I know, I had 2 copies as it worked out cheaper that way, wish I'd kept the additional copy a few months longer, ow well!
I couldn't see any noticeable difference from the still, maybe it's a better encode, with higher bitrate, so looks better in motion? I'm not sure how much difference that can all make, doesn't sound enough for a double bill for me!
Couple of flicks hitting Blu-ray from everyone's favourite Code Red sublabel Dark Force Entertainment this summer: ATOR THE INVINCIBLE (aka ATOR, THE FIGHTING EAGLE) (1982) [Thought this one might have been coming from Scorpion, but I guess Bill and his co-horts scooped it] "SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENT: COMING TO BLU-RAY for the first time ever from DARK FORCE it's...the original ATOR starring Miles O'Keeffe. The Italian made Conan-like fantasy is now officially part of Dark Force's big SUMMER BLOCKBUSTER LINE UP!" BREEDERS (1997) "BEHOLD the box cover for the new #10 release from Dark Force Entertainment featuring the 90s Direct-To-Video monster gem...BREEDERS. We just painstakingly completed a new HD master with extensive scene by scene correction from the only surviving elements (and there wasn't much) left from this picture to create the absolute best available version on the market. But that's not all!! This one will also have a Custom Collector's Slipcover that will rival the legendary old 3D VHS box. The Summer of Big Hits continues with BREEDERS only from Dark Force!"
Ha.....I still have Breeders on VHS. Haven't watched since I was a kid. I'll have to revisit soon to see if I wanna splurge on the upgrade.
***NEW TITLE ANNOUNCEMENT*** Two Italian oddities, coming soon to Blu-ray from Code Red DVD! Ferdinando Baldi’s (Django) sleaze epic “Terror Express” AKA “La ragazza del vagone letto” (1980)! Written by George Eastman! Trailer: https://youtu.be/HQORtCpFl3U Three thugs commandeer cars on a bullet train and spread terror among the passengers. + Gianfranco Parolini’s (Sabata) surrealist batshit Bigfoot flick “Giant of the 20th Century” AKA “Yeti: The Giant of the 20th Century” (1977) Trailer: https://youtu.be/bu3N9lUk98c Professor Wassermann (John Stacy) is asked by industry magnate Morgan Hunnicut (Eddie Faye) to lead an expedition to study the giant Yeti creature found frozen in a large ice block on Newfoundland's coast. The professor does not know that Hunnicut intends to use the prehistoric creature as a trademark of its multinational industrial group. A very big mistake. More exclusive news and info regarding these releases coming in the near future!
Dead Pit is now available at https://darkforcethese were listed in superstore.com, alone or in a variety of packages. Edit: As always, they didn't list all available units, so most of the listings have "sold out" with the exception of the Forced Entry / Dead Pit bundle which currently has 7 units available.
For the price he’s asking, I would much rather have had more supplementary material than gimmicky packaging. Seriously, he only lists a couple of on camera interviews. Not even a trailer. I do remember enjoying some aspects of The Dead Pit, but with the steep price and tiresome Dark Force sales tactics (“it’s sold out out but I held back some inventory”), I’m not in a hurry to get it.
I watched the original Dead Pit CR release a few weeks ago to see if it was worthy of a Blu upgrade. My answer is no.
