I LOVED Devil's Express. A rag-tag cocktail of the blaxploitation, kung-fu, and horror genre tropes that screams "entertainment" as there's never a dull moment in The Devil's Express, in my opinion. Pitting a gold-crushed-velvet-overalls-wearing martial arts master against a 200 year old Hong Kong demon loose in the NYC subway system, this forgotten 42nd Street gem was, for me, one of last year's best blind buys.

I'm with MS -- I thought DEVIL'S EXPRESS was a blast, and Code Red's disc was inifinitely more watchable than the old Sun VHS (as GANG WARS -- it was so dark you couldn't see anything during the underground bits).

Agreed 100%. Not to mention it's $20 + Shipping (Which is even more to get to Canada) for a DVD, with no tracking or insurance. Way too much in this day and age.

I appreciate Code Red releasing these obscure flicks, but there's got to a be a better/ cheaper method of doing so. Bill needs to look into what his brother is doing with Scorpion, or what Vinegar Syndrome, or Grindhouse, etc. are doing. I can get all of their products on DVD for $15 or under (or Blu for that matter for $20 or under), and I can order from a reputable dealer that I don't have to worry about the package getting lost in the mail and not being replaced.

Hopefully Scream can pick up more of these from Bill, as unfortunately it's probably the only way I will see them. I just can't justify spending $60+Shipping for 3 DVDs anymore, especially on these films.

Ordered the Blu-Ray of "Just Before Dawn" on Monday, but I still haven´t gotten any confirmation mail from Bill. Maybe he doesn´t send any?

Alright, too bad he doesn´t let the buyers know when he has shipped the discs.

I just read that Just Before Dawn is on a single layered 25gb disc.
Wouldn´t have been a problem with ONE cut of the movie, but since there are TWO full versions (no branching) on the disc, I´ve read that the compression suffers pretty badly at times.
Don´t know yet how bad it REALLY is, but it sounds like it would have been better to use seamless branching to insert the extended footage, if he couldn´t afford to release it on a dual-layered disc.

Also seems to be a problem with both JBD and Voices from Beyond on some players, where fastforwarding, pause, chapter skipping, etc. don´t work.

Hope my PS4 don´t go berzerk on the disc ;)

the picture was decent nothing more, and it did freeze a few times . Not an image that convinces anyone to go hi-def ..... just fun to have both versions ( just before dawn)

Alright, I´ll keep my expectations low.
I at least hope there are some high def moments to behold in this release ;)

Don't quote me on this, but I believe I read the longer cut has some different audio cues -- I'm pretty sure it's more of an early draft of the film than the final theatrical release. So I don't think seamless branching would've worked without ignoring some of the changes.

Aha! I just thought it basically was the same thing but with extended scenes.
Now I´m even more exited to see the longer cut :)

I haven't watched the blu yet but this never had a DVD release right? If so then this is the best the film has looked in a long time. I remember reading the PQ was decent.

I'd give the old DVD release of Just Before Dawn a C- on image, and I'd give the Blu an A-. It looks really good and no, I don't work for Code Red. Keep the old DVD though, as it contains extras that were not ported over.

Some scenes look stunning, with lush colors and pop. Others look drab and notasogood. Definitely a mixed transfer, but all in all far better than any dvd screens I've seen (never saw the dvd in action).

The Lieberman commentary on the Media Blasters DVD is very good and that's why I held onto mine.

Sounds like the blu-rays for Nightmare, Messiah Of Evil, and The Redeemer are currently planned for March.

Sweet, definitely buying Nightmare if this isn't a joke. Might buy The Redeemer also.
