Hey everyone! I was hoping some of you could help me out with this one. I bought the Dawn Of the Dead set the other day and just got around to checking out the features and noticed that on disc 2, the Extended Version, the Memorabilia and Production Still galleries will not work. The Behind-The-Scenes gallery on the same disc works fine. I was wondering if any of you that own it would mind popping in that disc and seeing if it works for you. I know it's not like that on every copy because people have posted reviews of those features and I can't access them. I find it hard to believe it's my player which is a Toshiba SD-4900 that plays any thing I've put into it. Any help greatly appreciated!

    Mine is fine.

FYI.... I run into this problem on occasion. Example, on the Alien Quadrilogy disc 2, I can watch all the featurettes except the last 3. If I stick the disc into another player (my playstation) it works fine.

I don't know what it is that does it, but I guess some players are just a little more temperamental than others.

Good point, I never thought to try my PS2 to play it. I hope it's the disc honestly, I've yet to encounter anything this DVD player will not play.

Now that sucks, BloodMan. Is it the disc or your player? Will the menu even come up for you?

Damn I hope this shit doesn't happen to my DOTD disc. I'm sure I'll get time to watch it sometime in the near future, but these 10 hour hard ass labor workdays are killing my dvd time!
BTW Froggy, you do have your 4900 hacked right? If not let me know and I can send you the cd to do it permenatly since I don't need it anymore. I left it unplugged for a month plus and it still plays everything from everywhere!

Yes, I do have it hacked, but thanks nonetheless for the offer. :) Best of luck with your DOTD set.

My disc 2 had the same problem and it pissed me off!! I have an old Pioneer, but the thing reads anything I put in it! Then I put the disc in the computer and it ran fine, as well as in my other DVD player, so it is an authoring problem. Hopefully that's the only problem on the set!!

Sounds like it could be a player error.

Sometimes you just get disc/player combinations that aren't compatible. I recall something similar with the original X-Men movie DVD and certain models of Toshiba players.

I'd try it a couple of other players before I took the DVD back.

It's probably DVD player incompatability...there are a whole bunch of discs my old Sharp won't ever play that reads perfectly on my PS2. Go figure. For some reason, AB discs are the ones it hates. When I put it in my new Philips player it works perfectly.

Just tried it in my PS2 and an Apex portable player and it was a no go on those players too.

Okay, then it sounds like it's a defective disc...at least for that portion. Try to take the set back. Mine works okay, by the way.

The same thing happened to me. :( I rarely have a problem with my old Sony player. My Cyberhome played the galleries just fine. There's something else that I've noticed... The layer changes for the extended and euro have this "overlapping" effect with the images. I've exchanged the set twice and still have the same problems.
