Hits DVD on February 19th. Wonder why all the Halloween movies always seem to hit in February? Night Of The Demons 1 & 2 hit blu-ray in February. Anyway...
Dread Central reviews 10/31: http://www.dreadcentral.com/reviews/266034/10-31-review-says-horror-anthologies-thing-past/
I've been super curious about this, but not willing to pay $24.99 for a DVD, especially after buying The Barn and having them release a blu-ray shortly after. Well, I had another Family Video surprise this afternoon. Turns out they carry 10/31. And bonus, it was for sale at $4.99, which is much more in my price range. I bought it. Anyone that has been looking for an affordable copy of this, check Family Video!
I got a copy at Family Video as well. I enjoyed the movie, thought the first segment (with The Hag) was the best one.
Watched it a few nights ago. No extras on the disc whatsoever, the only menu option is PLAY. There have been so many Halloween anthologies as of late, and this is nowhere near as good as Trick 'r Treat or Tales Of Halloween, but still fun if you like that sort of thing. Not as good as The Barn either, but certainly worth a look if you enjoyed that. It's at least way better than those All Hallows' Eve movies. The movie includes five Halloween themed shorts, along with a brief wraparound. My favorite by far was "Trespassers", the second segment. Pretty standard horror fare, a young couple going to explore a supposedly haunted house in the middle of nowhere. Also really dug the third segment, "Killing The Dance", although it takes too long to get where it's going. The first segment is the one from the director of The Barn, titled "The Old Hag". It's good, but for some reason I'm always a little put off when main characters in a movie are filmmakers. The only segment I flat out disliked was the final one, "The Samhain Slasher", directed by one of the band members from Evanescence. Which makes sense because it feels like a music video and has no narrative. I will say that like The Barn, the creativity on display here is extremely impressive considering they probably didn't have much to work with. In a way, it reminds me of those '80s films from Michigan by Raimi's crew (The Carrier, Thou Shalt Not Kill... Except, etc). I'd love to see what these guys could do with a little more money to work with. Definitely not worth the $24.99 price tag, but if you can find it for $5 or less at a Family Video, go for it.
They have exceeded the goal in the Indiegogo campaign, so all copies will be autographed now. They've also revealed new Blu-ray artwork: 6 days remaining in the the campaign...
The Blu-ray arrived in the mail today (just in time for Halloween) from the Indiegogo campaign: The Creepshow-ish Slipcover looks really sweet. The foldout poster was autographed by five, and the inner Blu-ray signed by Rocky alone.
It's supposed to ship by January 17th if you pre-order it: https://screamteamreleasing.com/products/10-31-part-ii-blu-ray
I don't think there really even is one for this. Anyways, mine arrived in the mail earlier today. Whether it will be as fun as the original movie was I don't know, but I'll probably watch it later tonight. The Slipcover looks pretty nice, just like the original one did, EC/Creepshow inspired:
10/31 Part II was pretty entertaining I must say. If you enjoyed the first film, it's very similar to that in style and everything else. I would rank it at least as entertaining as the first film, maybe even a little more. The "Overkill" segment was probably my personal favorite, done by the guy who did the Pool Party Massacre movie... and also probably the most professionally done with solid characters and actors. But they were all enjoyable, especially the four short "faux trailers" that precede the film proper. Shame there were no bonus features at all though. It makes me wonder if they're possibly planning a "re-release" a year later or something like they did with the first movie. It came out on DVD first and was bare-bones, but then was later re-released about a year later on Blu-ray with bonus features.
